Born in 1988, Maia lives and works between French Catalonia and California.
A graduate of École des Gobelins, she integrates her own moving body into images that form a poetic, humorous dialogue with reality.

Winner of the 2015 HSBC Photography Prize, her work is shown internationally and held in major collections such as the Musée Nicéphore Niépce, Fondation de France, Opéra national de Paris, and the McEvoy Foundation for the Arts. She studied at Le Fresnoy and has published three books: Rememories (Actes Sud, 2015), D’îles en Lune (ContreJour, 2020) and Fou Rire, Rêve Fou (Octopus, 2024).

As an artistic director, she creates visual projects for cultural, sports, and luxury clients (Louis Vuitton, Four Seasons, Institut Français…). Her latest commission, unveiled in September 2025, spans an entire hotel in Toulouse —from the lobby to the rooftop—through site-specific creations developed for the 17th floors of the building
